What Is Color Guesser?
Color Guesser is a free daily puzzle that tests how well you can picture a color from its name alone. You are shown a word — Indigo, Amber, Coral — and must recreate that color on an interactive wheel. There is no swatch to copy and no reference image. Everything comes down to what you already carry in your head.
Five color names appear each day, shared worldwide. Every player faces the same set, so your total out of 5,000 is directly comparable with anyone else who played that day. A new selection unlocks at midnight, keeping the challenge fresh without demanding more than a few minutes of your time.
How to Play Color Guesser
- Read the color name. A single word appears on screen — no image, no preview. Picture the color before you interact with anything.
- Select a hue on the wheel. Tap or click the color wheel to land on the general family of color you have in mind.
- Adjust the lightness. Use the brightness slider to bring your guess from deep and saturated toward pale and washed-out, or anywhere between.
- Submit and see your score. The correct color is revealed alongside yours. Points are awarded based on how close the two shades appear visually.
- Repeat for all five rounds, then share your result when the final score appears.
Features
- A new five-word puzzle every day at midnight, identical for all players
- Scoring based on visual color difference — close guesses still earn points
- Works on desktop and mobile without any download or account
- Shareable result block at the end of each session
- Drawn from a curated pool of real, widely recognized color names
Tips for a Higher Score
- Think about where you have seen the color in real life before touching the wheel — a first impression is often more accurate than an adjusted one.
- Warm and cool bias matters. Names like Olive or Khaki often read warmer than people expect; names like Slate or Steel tend to sit cooler and darker.
- Do not overcorrect after placing your hue — small lightness errors lose fewer points than large hue swings.
- After each reveal, note where you drifted. Patterns repeat across color families, so yesterday's miss can sharpen today's guess.
