What is Doctordle?
Doctordle is a free daily puzzle built around short clinical scenarios. Each round gives you a real-sounding patient case — symptoms, age, history — and asks you to identify the underlying diagnosis before the full workup is revealed.
A new case arrives every day. You get up to six guesses, and each wrong answer unlocks an extra clue from the case notes. Whether you have a medical background or just enjoy pattern-based puzzles, the format is easy to pick up in under a minute.
How to Play
- Read the opening line of the clinical case displayed on screen.
- Type your best diagnosis guess into the search field and submit.
- If the guess is wrong, the next clue from the case is automatically revealed.
- Keep guessing — each miss adds another detail until you either land the diagnosis or use all six attempts.
- Guessing early scores better; waiting for more clues is safer but less rewarding.
- After the round ends, review the full case and your result. Come back tomorrow for the next puzzle.
Daily Case vs Endless Mode
Doctordle has two ways to play depending on how much time you have.
| Focus | Daily Case | Endless Mode |
|---|---|---|
| Format | One shared case for all players worldwide, refreshed every day. | Unlimited cases across Challenge Mode and Practice Mode. |
| Best for | A quick daily ritual and comparing results with friends. | Longer sessions or extra practice beyond the daily round. |
| Pressure | One shot per day — miss it and wait until tomorrow. | More relaxed; replay as many cases as you like. |
| Streak tracking | Fully tracked — win rate, average guesses, and current streak. | Tracks your session progress separately from the daily stats. |
Tips for Getting the Diagnosis Faster
- Pay attention to patient age and the specific combination of symptoms in the opening line — these often narrow the differential significantly.
- If nothing stands out from the first clue, hold off and wait for the next detail rather than guessing blindly.
- Common conditions come up more often than rare ones. If two diagnoses fit the clues, lean toward the more prevalent one first.
- When a timing detail appears (acute vs. chronic), use it — it rules out whole categories at once.
- Endless Mode is a good way to build pattern recognition if you find the daily cases tricky at first.
Frequently Asked Questions
- Do I need a medical background to play?
- No. The clue-by-clue structure makes each case readable for anyone. Players with medical training may spot answers sooner, but the format is approachable without it.
- Is there only one case per day?
- The Daily Case gives you one puzzle every 24 hours. If you want more, switch to Endless Mode directly inside the game for additional rounds.
- Does Doctordle track my progress?
- Yes. Win rate, current streak, and average guesses per puzzle are all stored locally in your browser — no account or sign-up required.
- What makes the puzzle satisfying?
- The pull between committing early and waiting for more information. Landing the right diagnosis from just the first clue feels noticeably different from needing all six, and that gap is what keeps each round interesting.
